Over the past few years, online marketing has made businesses much simpler and convenient for both the sellers and the buyers. As much as this is true, there are some rules that you need to follow if you are to keep using the online marketing platforms.

Craigslist Posting Terms and Conditions-You Should Know It

When it comes to Craigslist, this is also the case only that the rules you have to comply to are much less. Though it is hard for you to break any of these rules, not knowing the terms of use may cost you in some instances which is why in this section, we’ll be looking at the terms and conditions to follow.

Well, let’s get started…

As far back as it was started in the year 1996, craigslist grants its users a license which can only be obtained if you are over 18 years of age. Here’s how the license works.

It is limited– this simply means that even though you are given the license to use Craigslist, you don’t get to use it 100% as you please.

The license is revocable– being revocable, the license issued to you by Craigslist may be reverted or rather considered void and you won’t be able to post on Craigslist.

It is non-exclusive– craigslist allows you to post most but not all products. Things such as gambling items, ammunition, human trafficking, personal identification details among many others cannot be posted. The list is quite long but for the good of the whole craigslist society. You can find these in the prohibited section.

Non-sublicensable– this does not allow you to give your license to someone else and it will only be you who will be held accountable for anything posted on your account.

The license also states that besides the data you upload on craigslist, you cannot be able to license, create a derivative, sell or display anything else that is on craigslist. Craigslist, on the other hand, has an unlimited and global control over anything you post.

When it comes to the use of craigslist, you agree not to use or provide software (other than the general web browsers) that inter-operate or interact with craigslist. These include those that can be used to download, flag, research, email or upload and post ads.

Web crawlers, data scraping, scripts, bots, and spiders are also prohibited on craigslist

Collecting the personal information of other users is also prohibited.

Most of Craigslist postings are free except for criteria such as job postings in selected areas, a number of by-dealer categories and furniture as well among other commodities and services. You should have a look at some of these under the posting fees section.

Under moderation, all Craigslist users agree to have their access to craigslist moderated by the admin and the use of your account in utmost discretion. This may include IP blocking, filtering, verification, delaying, omission, deletion and/or your account/access/license termination.

You also agree not to go around any of the moderation and in addition to this, the right of craigslist to moderate is not under any circumstance void.

There are laws in a lot of jurisdictions all over the world that protect business persons and therefore limit their rights when it comes to using Craigslist. Craigslist obeys these laws exclusively.
